"Ya Gotta LOVE em!"
Thai people love bananas. There are dozens of different varieties
available. Thais eat them raw, fried, boiled, steamed, baked, etc.
But no one has ever even heard of a frozen banana in Thailand.
After giving away hundreds of free samples,
it appears Thais enjoy the product.
Originally I set up Noodleman Ltd. Part. with my friend, Dr. Pipob.
A forigner can only own 49% of a business here in Thailand and cannot
work without a special work permit! I had to depend on Thais to work
the business. My first employee, stole from me!!!!
From my adds running in local newspapers I got plenty of calls
from people looking for work, but I could only find one Thai women
who wanted to work. She and I moved the store into a booth at
Tukcom Shopping Center Food Court.
After three days I realized I had bitten off more than I could chew.
I could not run the operation with only one person, and she got
discouraged, as did I. We closed the store and I took the freezer,
table, and everything else home to my rented condo.
On April 9th, I spoke with my lawyer and paid him to do my
taxes for 2007. After a conversation about legalities, we
determined that I have been breaking Thai law from the
very beginning. There is a "catch 22". Example -
When I hired my first employee, I was considered
to have been working, and could have been arrested!
